I think we are gonna be real fans of Lenny Daniels. This kid can play (maybe our best player?).
I'd like to say he might be an improvement over Tremaine. He has alot of low post moves (ALOT), tremaine seemed to be scared of the paint a little while Lenny relishes it. Lenny also crashes the boards pretty well and is a solid free throw shooter. He doesn't stray from his comfort zone (the paint) and he looks like he's 12.
We HAVE ALOT OF DEPTH at the wings.
Some notes about each player.
Vinnie McGhee - (For DonLe), probably looked like our 2nd best player out there. The KID can shoot. And he looks like a natural point guard. When watching youtube and looking him up, he looked like a guy that would be a scoring PG but during this game he definitely set up the offense, his 3 3 pointers (made 2 of them) were out of kick out passes and he had atleast 2 nice assists that I can remember.
Mike Lizzaraga - He's finally a D1 player. I can definitely see him playing 10 minutes a game backing up Willie at center (XAVIER CRAWFORD NOWHERE TO BE FOUND). While he looked lost out there last year, he definitely looked like he belongs.
Bryce Smith/Tony O - They were both wearing suits, not sure what is wrong with Tony O while Bryce has to sit out this year and will be a sophmore next year. He average ~12 his senior year at Taft but playing with 5 other DI guys its not bad (Larry Drew Jr. - UNC Starting PG, Justin Hawkins - UNLV, Michael Williams - USF, Eugene Phelps - CSULB, Terran Carter - Not sure anymore)
Mark Hill - 2nd best PG on the team, his shot was off, but he really hounds the guy on defense, would love to see Vinnie starting with Mark Hill coming in after and just hounding the opposing player. Does commit cheap fouls while hounding (a trade mark Braswell foul) but glad we have Vinnie to backup.
Rashaun McClemore - One of our better shooters, missed alot of the shots I saw but he has a good form. Seemed to try to force some shots ala Mike E (I hope not a 2nd coming though the talent is similiar). Between him, Vinnie, and Lenny, I love our newbies!!!
Kenny Daniels - We have alot of wings and was in and out of the lineup. He hit a nice outside 3 and still definitely tried to take it to the hole plenty. Leading scorer is between him, Rashaun and Lenny.
Lenny Daniels - read above many times....didn't start though they started Vincent Cordell (the senior)
Vincent Cordell - Solid, won't wow you but will do the little dirty things for the team, i'm thinking he's the glue to this team this year ala Rob Haynes the last couple of years.
Willie Galick - Has definitely worked on his post moves this summer (did he pull a Kobe and call Hakeem over the summer) though they were against smaller defenders. He's still trying to take too many charges, we need him on the floor.
Raymond Cody - Between him and McClemore as our best shooter. Didn't make his shots but he has a nice form, they just weren't going down tonight.
Kevin Menner - A 6'5 gym specimen. He definitely try to attack attack attack the basket. Probably best suited as an undersized 4 even though we were trying to play him at the 3. He's got alot of muscles (not that i was staring....i have a girlfrined...)...Him and Lenny Daniels when they were in together, were crashing the boards like crazy.
DaNathan Lyles - Didn't play that much in the first half but seems pretty heady from the time I saw him ala Paul Wayne, solid defender, runs the offense but doesn't try tooo much out of his element.
