Thankfully for us Stan no longer hires coaches himself but the hiring process is done by an internal search committee. This committee is ridiculously slow, but in the long run I think they're doing a good job. Much better than Stan's former method of promoting the academic adviser to head coach, or the CSF method of immediately promoting an assistant coach of a losing program without even bothering to explore what other quality candidates might be available. I'd also much rather have our slow committee than toss over $50k to the Pump brothers like many other schools do when they need a coach. We might have missed out one or two spring recruits during the long Wooldridge hiring process, but in hindsight I think most of us are pleased that we ended up with the coach that we did instead of immediately hiring some of the other names that were thrown around at the time.

I don't know much about the volleyball scene, but on the surface there's nothing to dislike about this hire.
