UCR 4-2 to start the season; come from behind extra innings win 5-4 on Friday at home vs. USF after being shut out 7-0 in home opener. This followed a strong
start, going 3-1, all on road against Cal and UCLA to begin the season. The pitching has been strong; control has been very effective. Equally impressive has
been the consistent defense, which results in less strain on the staff. Hitting has been strong as well. 2008 was a struggle after the success and turnover
of roster from the 2007 draft. Doug Smith continues to do a good job running this program in a tough conference. It would be nice to see UCR followers get
behind this team.
