- I have read a few people say that LBST might still be "a year away from dominating this league". I would like to know who you guys see as your serious deep threat in the future? Who do you guys see on your roster as that knock down 3-point shooter that will stretch defenses to the point where your athletes will "dominate" the Big West?
I only ask because I look at your roster and to be honest, I just don't see it, past this year (Gilling is of course one heck of a shooter).
Every team that has won the Big West in the past has had a minimum of 1 and a lot of times 2 or 3 knock down, dead eye 3-point shooters:
- 2009 Cal State Northridge: Rob Haynes= 46% from 3 in Big West play, Jenkins= 40% in BW (11 games), and we all saw how hot Mels was at the end of the year
- 2008 Cal State Fullerton: Josh Akognon= no stats even needed to explain how good a shooter he was, Marcus Crenshaw, Frank Robinson
- 2007 Long Beach State: Aaron Nixon, Kejuan Johnson
- 2006 UOP: Mike Webb, Johnny Gray, Christian Maraker
- 2005 UOP: David Doubley, Mike Webb
2005 Utah State: Jaycee Carroll
If you go back further you will find a similar pattern.
Anyone who has followed the Big West can tell you (and I think that list shows) that it is obvious that you need a go to, knock down, clutch shooter on the perimeter if you are gonna win this league. I'm just curious as to who Long Beach State fans see that being while the 49ers "dominate" in the coming years?
