ZSparky, I admire you for your level headed and sometimes reserved support and excitement. Many on here can't seem to separate supporting their program with even tempered and logical thinking when it comes to debating issues (and I get that this is just a blog/forum, so enthusiastic, fevered support is of course encouraged and fun at times).

I think LBST will be very good. Lots of talented young players. But does it worry you that LBST is banking on a player that took a back seat to newcomers this past season, after a decent Freshman year, to be LB's go to perimeter shooter next year (2010-11)? Is it a little far reaching to logically say that LBST will "dominate" the Big West (as is being claimed by some) if Greg Plater is your go to perimeter shooting specialist? The guy's listed in that first post were Big West MVP, and All-League caliber players (except maybe Northridge, though Haynes shot the heck out of it and Mels won BWT MOP). No personal offense to Plater, but I don't think anyone in the LBST camp is envisioning him as an All-League performer, are they?

I also get it that Anderson is a BIG TIME talent, no doubt. But didn't he go like 6-20 from the 3 in league games? And add to that the fact that there is NO WAY he is sneaking up on anybody like he did as a Freshman when the majority of the attention by opposing teams was probably paid to Morris. He's going to be the focus of opposing defenses for the rest of his career. Josh Akognon, Alex Harris, and Aaron Nixon could handle the full attention of defensive schemes and still shoot lights out. Do you see Larry Anderson being that type of shooter?

Does LB want to rely on a 4/5 man (Chang) to be the guy to be the 3-point shooter? Or to bank on an incoming Freshman to be the go to guy from the get go? Is the Thomas kid going to get minutes over Anderson, Ware, Wilson, Woodard to be a truly effective and game changing threat from behind the arc?

These are all things that I'm not claiming to have an answer for, and maybe nobody does. That's why players work in the off-season and the games are played during the year, to answer questions like this. I just think it is interesting to hear the point of view from the people that follow the team more closely and might have greater insight as to if these questions are valid. IMHO: without a proven knock down guy from deep, it will be hard for any team to "dominate" this league.

Just out of curiosity to see where this goes for you: why is it that asking a serious question about the dynamics of a basketball team in a basketball forum is all of the sudden "like fingers to a chalkboard meets Chinese Water Torture?"

I never claimed to know much about LBST basketball... THAT'S WHY I WAS ASKING THE QUESTION. And if praising someone for answering a question with some amount of logic is wrong than forgive me, I must be living in some kind of alternate universe where that kind of thing is looked well upon.

But thank you for praising my knowledge of the game. I never thought it was that great, but maybe I was wrong.
