I'm less optimistic about some of the JC kids we brought in than most of our fans, but that wouldn't be a first.
As the UCSB fan said, we DID rely a lot on the 3 pt shot last season, and lost so much in that area.
Fact is that Cody only connected on about 34% from deep at Antelope Valley(and about 41% total FGs), McLemore about the same.
We really could have used Fulton ,who was a better 3 pt shooter than either, but he's not coming, and I have a feelng that's going to hurt us.
Add the fact that Cody committed an eye-popping 109 turnovers, and I'd prefer to see Hill and McGhee in there together as much as possible, with McLemore as first guard off the bench.When Lyles gets healthy, he shoots well enough to see time at SG as well as PG.Not a great passer.
And in the FC, Dancer can't shoot at all, and will struggle in a half court game just as Heard did. That's the kind of thing that hurt us so much our first few years in the BW. Menner's an active player who gets to the line, and should help. And the physical Henson, who spent a yr at Wyoming might be a nice addition as well. I don't have any opinion on Daniel.
In short, we have enough bodies who can do various things to where depth shouldn't be a major problem. But I'll say right now that our ability to challenge Long Beach and UCSB will end up depending on how accurate we are from 3 pt range. And it'll be up to McGhee to provide that, because I have my doubts that Cody and McLemore will.
