You are right LB went .500 last season, but alsoplayed the toughest schedule in the conference. We were not quite good enough to win alot of those tough games, but despite starting 3 freshmen for much of the season we were good enough to finish in second place, and yes all that kept us from winning the league was one terrific shot by Nunnally. Despite that, at the end of the season LB was not the best team in the league, Northridge was, and so they deserved to dance. Further, one could make an argument that SB was better than us at the end of the year, they did beat us to end our season. Despite that, to denigrate the almost unbelieveable turnaround Monson has engineered in two season at LB is foolish. With the threat of and imposition of sanctions hanging over his head Monson has signed what is arguably the most productive group of freshmen ever at LB, and perhaps in the league. The job is not done, you cannot assume these kids will automatically be able to step up to the next level (but given their reported work levels and their obvious skill levels I bet they will).

So come on Czar, why do you react so vehemently? Are you as DD says, jelousional? I think it is obvious that this is a brutal schedule, and frankly I would rather play close, hard fought losses against the likes of Wisconsin and BYU than get meaningless wins over Bakersfield and Hope Intl.

I believe that LB is a program clearly on the rise, but I also think the BW is about to have its best 2-3 years in a long time. As good as our guys were, Nunnally was playing awfully well at the end of the year, and SB has brought in another really good recruiting class. It will be interesting to seehow Somoygi(sp?) developes, if that guy could put on 20-30 lbs of muscle he could be a force. Northridge did a good job of reloading and will probably take a bit to learn to play together, but I look for them to be tough before the end of the year. I believe PG is the most important position in college BB and Fullerton has one of the best in school history in Streeter, Burton has alot of good players coming in, and again while they may take some time to gell the Titans will be tough. Wise and Hunter at UCI give them a pretty good inside out combo and I think they will be better this season than last. Payne and Harden at Davis are as good a 1-2 punch as anyone in the league has, if Payne can learn to shoot a jumpshot he could play at the next level. UOP looks shaky, but experience has shown me that is is always unwise to underestimate BT. He always manages to get his guys to play better as a team than their individual talent level would make it seem is possible. And if all that was not enough, Austin and the Gonzaga transfer make UCR a solid contender. Only CP looks hopeless at this point. My point is that LB will be better and is a real contender, but I think as a league this year and next will be a chance to see a better grade of BB than the last several years have brought. I am excited and look forward to watching it all unfold.

The flagship line is DD's, I have not heard any other fans brag like this. But while DD can be a bit extra-enthusiastic at times is is not like you have never gone out on a limb yourself TC. Your style is just a bit different, DD overstates the case for his team, you understate the case for teams. And thank you for the suggestion, but I dont think I will shut up. This board is for discussion, if we all shut up wouldn't it get boring? It would be like Daves board, weeks without posts.
