That's what Serrano gets for disrespecting Arkansas and not using Fullerton's #1 pitcher.

Fair criticism. Hindsight is always 20-20.

Whether it's hindsight or not, if Razorbacks go on to win this game, Serrano's decision to not start his #1 guy who has been their unquestionable leader against one of the final eight teams does indicate he felt this one was in the win column before CSUF took the field. Way to keep the opposition fired up, Dave. |

UCI fans should be worried about their downward trend the past three years.

With what they have coming back next year after having lots of draft eligible guys go undrafted, Irvine has a good chance of reversing that trend.

Former Matador Scott Lyons comes through | #9 | ||
|
Scott Lyons hit .326 for us in '06 as a FR, but elected not to return. Word got out and Arkansas tried to sign him, but Rousey, upset that Lyons reportedly
didn't tell him he was leaving until August, chose not to grant him his release. He spent a season at Mt Sac, and turned down an opportunity afterwards to
sign after being drafted late by the Red Sox.
Lyons got off to an awful start last season, and never recovered fully, but had a pretty solid year this time around. I was rooting for Fullerton, but couldn't help enjoying his 2-run single on Pill's first offering to help the Hogs to the victory. Nice to see he didn't let Rousey keep him down. |

A tough way to start Omaha. Now you have to face the loser of Virginia/LSU and must run the table. Not easy but Fullerton can still do it. The freshmen
pitchers really struggled with Ramirez constantly behind in the count and Pill coming in with the bases juiced and giving up 5 runs. I think they will perform
better next time out.
Good luck guys. |

Well CSF is playing UVa, the team UCI couldn't beat at home. We'll see what happens.

TitanCzar wrote:That thought did occur to me, but whichever way it goes, you're getting into football polls logic. Is UCI better than Fullerton because of Riverside? Different time, play, environment, and many, many other intangibles. I was talking to my friend from Virginia yesterday, and said that UVA was the best team in Irvine. He said that was true...for that weekend. So if UVA wins, I'm not gonna' start pointing fingers like some over excited 5-year-old, jumping up and down, screaming, "See? See? We got screwed! UVA IS tough!" On the other hand, if Fullerton wins, I'm not going to accept it as any kind of proof of Fullerton superiority. |

Towknie wrote:So if CSF wins the NC, you're going to accept that CSF is better? Going the de-lusional LB route? In MLB, the Angels won the season serie vs the Red Sox last year. But in the ALDS, all that went out the window, and the Red Sox won. . Didn't a UCI fan say that because UCI beat CSF back in March or April, that proves UCI is the better team? Of course not because, as you said 'Different time, play, environment, and many, many other intangibles.' You're a big RPI person, CSF had a higher RPI than UCI. If UCI was really the #1 ranked team in the nation, they would have taken care of business of home.

TitanCzar wrote: No delusions. CSUF has clearly finished better than UCI when all is said and done. Even if Virginia wins tomorrow, you went further than we did. I was merely arguing that the results of tomorrow's game really prove nothing in the never ending rivalry between our schools. Kinda' the end of that discussion as far as I'm concerned. Unrelated, but I tend to be more of an ISR person than an RPI person just by virtue of playing around with binomial probablities and seeing the ISR be deadly accurate. I just accept that RPI is the criteria most looked at by the committee. |

TC, you made that comment a couple of times , but I don't think it follows=
In '07 UCI finished the regular season 3rd in the BWC and ranked between 15 and 20 in the polls, then made a great postseason run finishing #3 in the CWS and ranked top 10 Last year was almost an identical Regular season, but got beat in the LSU super=regional This year UCI won the BWC, was ranked #1 in all the polls at end of regular season, was awarded a regional and was a national seed. The fact they lost to a highly rated UVA team and did not advance is clearly a disappointment, Would you trade a CWS for all of that? yes Is it a doenward trend? no But I don't think the record this year is a step back at all--UCI has affirmed its position as a national elite (but has still not passed CSF) If this was an attempt to rile UCI fans I don't see it working. |

No33pc having TitanCzar trying at all to use the fact UCI advanced to the CWS for his argument is soooo funny because TC predicted that year UCI would lose in
the regional. TitanCzar was WRONG! Then he predicted UCI would go 2 and BBQ in Omaha. TitanCzar was WRONG AGAIN!.
So having TitanCzar, who couldn't have been any more wrong in predicting UCI's 2007 postseason, use those results as proof he's right at something is hilarious! |

It's not too hard to figure out No.33. When did UCI's season end the past three years?
07 at the CWS 08 at the SR 09 at the Regionals. Screw the polls, RPI, the excuses, and all that crap. UCI's season has ended earlier and earlier since 07. As for that moron gouci, I'm sure he's always right. And I notice he never makes predictions, like the gutless moron he continues to be.
