turns out Memphis has screwed up and could hurt them in the long run. My question is, if these allegations where brought up in January, why where they allowed to compete this year?

cuz the allegations involve a player who only played during that year. deduction to figure out who it was? shouldn't be too difficult.
if it involved anyone on this year's team...would that give CSUN its first tournament victory by default? 28. Here's what the tournament does to you: Before it's over, there will be a team you've never watched, coached by a guy you've never heard of, played by kids you'll never see in the NBA -- yet you'll be on your knees in front of your plasma rooting … begging like an alumnus for it to pull off the upset. -Gene Wojciechowski "33 Reasons to Love Tourney Time" |

The article states that the player that cheated on the SAT played on the '07-'08 team. Any and all Memphis victories from that season will be
forfeited (they get to put an asterik next to all of those W's). AND, That doesn't mean every opponent that Memphis beat is awarded a W. It means that
any and all opponents that lost to Memphis in the '07-'08 season will put an asterik next to their L. The player stats remain intact but the loss is
not, or ever will be, counted.
IF the allegations involved a Memphis player on the '08-'09 team then CSUN would not be awarded a W for the NCAA Tournament game but they would get to write-off the loss with an asterik. They still appeared, they still played, the player stats remain intact, Tournament Appearances would be 2, and the Win-Loss record would be 0-1. Now let me put on my Sheila Bair glasses

Uh, does he play for the Bulls?
What about the allegations that Tim Floyd paid off one of OJ Mayo's handlers? For some reason, U$C can do whatever it wants (Yahoo sports did this and the Reggie Bush story) and the NCAA seems to think this is just some comic reality show not worthy of their scrutiny.

Giving money is way different than faking derrick rose's SAT's, Northridgelum is right, and since it doesn't involve this years team we can't
get a * loss, but as fans we can still say we won because I am sure they cheated this year as well. Also willing to bet that coach cal got the word that this
was gonna happen and that is why he left memphis and moved onto kentucky.

This whole thing that Coach Cal is cooperating with the NCAA because he is not at a risk of liability is laughable. Why would the NCAA give such clearance
until the whole investigation is done, including getting all the facts re: what Cal knew and didn't know. Guys like Floyd and Cal, there is a gut feeling
that they are greasy but then you see this and it's confirmed. I bet half the D-I coaches in America are willingly violating NCAA rules - not the
technical stuff, the egregious stuff.
