I'm not sure any Rec Center will increase future donations significantly. It helps. I think the value of any Rec Center is to change from a perceived view of commuter to resident univeristy. It is simply, build the Rec Center first, then the dorms. It is a decades long process. For LBSU it is the way to proceed.

What this has to do with the current state of athletics is beyond me, but TC continually brings up Rec Centers. I'm not sure why, other than he doesn't...

Just because they're still struggling to get donors, doesn't mean that they haven't gotten any donors at all. It sounds like you subscribe to the theory of "Jealusional" I forgot, you're allknowing Titanczar, you have a crystal ball in the back trunk of your Gremlin that can forsee all past/present copies of checks written from the thousands upon thousands of graduates since the center went up. Rec Centers can and do keep kids on campus. But think about a commuter campus, by the time most athletic events start they are long gone.

A commuter kid has classes from 9am-1pm, then may go work out for an hour or two, then what? Think he is going to stay until 7pm for the game? Not happening, in large enough numbers to make it worthwhile.

I have a fairly unique perspective right now with regards to Rec Cen "atmospheres." CSUB's Rec Cen was recently completed this Spring and I'll be going back in the fall for more classes. I also graduated from UCSB as many on here already know. UCSB's Rec Cen is under the auspice of Physical Activities and Recreation (or whatever the title is now). While CSUB's is more of a joint-venutre between ASI and the university.

LB's will be like a beachfront home with a great room, while CSF's is like a 800 sq. ft. fixer upper crack house in Detroit.

CSF has about a 100,000 sq ft student rec center, funded by student fees in 04 or 05. Construction started in 06 and the rec center opened in 2008. Cost about $42 mil.

LB started construction in 2009. 125,000 sq ft student rec center.
