Cassel was recently sent down to Birmingham in AA. He's doing well there, again, so should be back up before too long.

See the other thread that Scott Gorgen has been promoted to AA Springfield Cardinals, although with the way he got knocked around, I don't know how long the stay will be.

How about Sean Tracey? I saw he was picked-up by the Angels from the Orioles this winter, but he isn't on a roster in their organization. Anyone know what happened to him? He had arm trouble all last year, so he may not be healthy yet. I just can't seem to find any info.

His significance? Google his name and read about the incident when he was called-up by the White Sox a couple of years ago. Could that be haunting his career?

As SoCalBrett provided, Wagner had a progressively good career at UCI. That junior, his last, year was stellar. What the stats don't show is his great defensive abilities behind the plate. We had some unpolished pitchers that first Serrano year and he handled them about as well as one could. If the NCAA kept preventing wild pitches as a stat, he would have led the nation. His draft position was no fluke. Good to see him having success in pro ball.

After a layoff of almost two years, Brett Smith has made his expected return in July. He is currently at the Yankees Rookie class club in the Gulf Coast League. Smith got shelled in his first start, but pitched 3 scoreless innings in his most recent appearance this Tuesday.

Dylan Alexrod is with an independant team based in the Midwest (I can't remember the team) after being cut by the Angels in mid-May '09, according to his father who I spoke with during the UCI-UCSB series.
