Garcia was named to the Men's College Soccer Team of the Season first team from TopDrawerSoccer.com.

He was selected to go to 2010 Adidas MLS Player Combine, which means he has a good chance of getting drafted by an MLS team.

The sports budgets for UC Irvine and Cal St. Fullerton increased. UCI reported a $12.45 million budget, up from $12.09 million in 2007-08. Cal St. Fullerton's budget was $9.58 million, an increase of approximately $320,000 from the previous year. The Titan's trip to the College World Series raised the school's athletic-related revenues and expenses, CSF associate athletic director Robert Scialdone said.

It's basketball season, so that's where all the message board action is right now, but what's your favorite sport at UCI? I'm an unapologetic baseball fan. Have been since my freshman year in 1990. I lament that UCI doesn't have any regular season games scheduled in Texas this year, so I won't be able to see them play. LPGA Qualifying Tournament (Jane Chin tied for 1st)

After 2 rounds, former UCI golfer Jane Chin is tied for first at the LPGA Qualifying tournament at 6 under par. The Top 20 finishers in this tournament receive placement in the top priority list for LPGA qualifiers, so Jane is 6 strokes ahead of that cut. That said, a higher finish in the tournament means higher placement in that priority list, so let's hope she can keep it up.

They completely blow the match at Santa Barbara, lose the return match at home in 5 after being up 2-1, lose the chance to clinch the auto bid at Long Beach in 5, and lose to TCU in 4 on a neutral court showing the selection committee they definitely didn't deserve to get in. Women's volleyball sweeps at the Bren

UCI sweeps CSF on senior night played at the Bren Center. UCI won 3-0 (29-27,25-20,25-19).

The UCI band was there as well as the UCI men's soccer Big West Tourney champs who were honored during intermission.

Nice crowd of 1,000+ in attendance. Hopefully this large crowd provides a reason to play more UCI women's volleyball matches at the Bren instead of Crawford Court.

The sweep allows UCI to get plenty of rest for the match at Long Beach St. on...

Just a heads up...

UCI Men's Soccer beat Cal Poly tonight, which means that they will be playing in the Big West Tournament championship game against UCSB at UCSB. This will be an important game, as while it is possible, I don't think that UCI will be guaranteed an at-large bid if they lose in the title game. It should be interesting.

I just got back from watching our 2010 team workout at Cicerone Field. This is a very solid team all away around. In speaking with several people there, the biggest problem we saw will be only fielding nine players at a time. This team is absolutely loaded. I don't know if anyone has seen this, but Barry Faulkner will now be co-hosting the Blue and Gold Report with Marc Roberts. For those who don't know, Faulkner is a writer for the Daily Pilot who covers UCI sports perhaps more than any other media outlet.

That is good news for UCI fans. They are basically the UCI athletics media dream team. I look forward to hearing Faulkner on the radio.

UCI alums Jane Chin and Selanee Henderson have advanced to the LPGA Tour Qualifying School finals.

Chin finished 11th at 3-under par with rounds of 68-70-71-76 last month at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage. Henderson was 19th.

They advance to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL on Dec. 2-6.

UCI sophomore Stephanie Hammel went 3-0 in the pre-qualifying singles draw of the Riviera All-American Tournament and advanced to the qualifying singles draw. She defeated some good players from top 20 programs.
