Greetings to the Eater Nation! I was curious if the speculation surrounding Coach Douglass' job security has any merit? I haven't checked out your board in some time, so forgive me if this has already been discussed ad naseum.

Recruiting - For what it's worth

I personally believe the emphasis this year is on the Court. Spring signing period is along time away. But, I ran across this tournament, and there is a player we are apparently recruiting hard named George Matthews. Look down below to the comments in Pool D. I obviously have not seen him play since his is from Arizona. Although they have not offered, UCONN even looked at this wing at one point.

UCI vs. Hawaii thoughts

I made it to the game tonight. It was a good win by Hawaii, and we had it all the way, despite some of the scares midway through the second half. Here are a few thoughts.

1. I walked in about 5 minutes in to the game and UCI was already up 11-2 or something like that. So, I can't really say anything about the hot start. My guess is that Losonsky must have been a big part of the hot start, because they said he scored 15, but it sure didn't seem like I saw him score that...

Rembert and Strings are killing us

Both have regressed after such promising seasons last year. The tell-tale signs are their shooting percentages and assist to turnover ratios.

Rembert is shooting a whopping 17.6% from the field and an even worse 14.3% from 3 point land. This compares to 41.9% and 37.0% in these respective categories last season. His assist to turnover ratio has been cut in half from 1.77 to 0.89. I'm not sure if his offseason injury is still affecting his play but he has to step it up if the...

No Box Score Anomoly Tonight

Well, maybe because 13 different players got into the game for UCI. That's kinda weird. Here's another one: I know it shouldn't be possible, but Wilder is shooting like 112% from three-point land so far. Well, he is 9 for 12 for the season... small sample size, but that's still a little sick.

The final score 75-54 was a little closer than it sounds. FDU pulled to within 7 in the 2nd half (not that they looked to win), but...

I am hoping for a win. FDU isn't looking to good losing to 75-61 to UTSA and 68 to 29 to Eastern Kentucky. They are 1-4 and have lost all four games by over 10 points.

Eastern Kentucky killed Fairleigh Dickinson 68-39 yesterday. Eastern Kentucky was favored by 10 when I looked yesterday.

Eaters are 8 point underdogs today against Eastern Kentucky. I hope the Eaters make it more of a game.

According to the box score for tonight's games against UTSA, Atkinson did not play. Emil Kim, who had not previously seen the floor for UCI, played 12 minutes and scored 6 points.

The games going into the holiday are tougher than they might look at a casual glance:

Monday: UTSA. When the schedules were announced, one probably would have forecasted this as a "Pick 'Em" game. Like UCI, UTSA is a middle of the road team in a middle of the road conference. However, in UTSA's season opener, they beat Iowa by 12 at Iowa. I know this is a rebuilding year for Iowa... but that's a quality win.
